Turtle Volunteer

Ever wanted to be part of something bigger than yourself?

How about diving into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help save endangered sea turtles while leveling up your skills and experience?

If you’re passionate about wildlife, looking to gain hands-on experience, and want to live on a beautiful island for a while, this is for you!

What’s the Catch?

We only have 12 live-in volunteer spots available each year, so if this sounds like your vibe, you’ll need to act fast.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a volunteer at Quoin Island Turtle Rehabilitation Centre (QITRC), you’ll be knee-deep in sea turtle care and island life. Some of the hands-on tasks you’ll be doing include:

Caring for the turtles
Feeding, handling, and making sure they’re comfortable.

Cleaning enclosures
Scrubbing and vacuuming the main rehab pool, ICU tanks, and keeping things spotless (turtles can be messy!).

Food prep
You’ll be making large quantities of seafood and collecting seaweed from the ocean.

Medical care
Depending on your skills and qualifications, you could be involved in medical treatment, doing blood and faecal analysis, radiography and more.

Machinery
Depending on your skills and qualifications: operating pumps, filters and machinery.

Island maintenance
Cleaning, mowing, leaf blowing, and general upkeep of the property. Oh, and don’t forget feeding and caring for the resident wallabies.

You’ll be working under the guidance of the manager and experienced supervisors, and be expected to give your all – typically about 8 hours a day, though hours can vary depending on the turtles’ needs.
